We took off on our California Adventure on May 15! And it sure was an adventure getting here! We left bright and early and met up with our friends in Tooele. We planned to caravan the rest of the way together. Well shortly after leaving Tooele, Dustin started loosing power in his truck. We exited and took the long, slow way to the nearest Chevy dealership. His truck could only go 10-20 mph pulling a huge trailer. We made it there and got his truck looked at. Not good news! The repair was going to be very costly, like $7500+. So Dustin and Katelynn were going to stay behind and go new truck shopping and we would carry onward and meet up again later.
Driving is exhausting! ha ha. I have a video of Deegan with his hand like this and his hand kept slipping down and he would keep putting it back in that position. It was pretty funny.
We had some ups and downs on the trip. But the boys did great considering!!
Griffin wouldn't stop spitting, so Deegan took matters into his own hands and took cover! ha ha. He had Eric's phone and was watching Super Why under there. :)
We finally made it to Reno, which was supposed to be our stopping point for the night. Well, Eric got a call from a buddy that is working in Southern Cali (We were heading to Northern) telling him he needed to get to Southern asap for work. Eric decided to stop for an hour or so and then head out again, skipping Northern and going to Southern. This would have been a good decision to make that morning. SO, after an almost 15 hour day, we loaded back up and drove another 9 hours to Southern Cali. It was AWFUL!!! We were so tired, the kids didn't sleep great, we got pulled over (apparently the speed limit for cars is 70mph but trucks pulling anything it drops to 55 mph) luckily they saw Eric's sticker and knew he was a lineman, gave us a warning and let us go. It was a blessing they stopped us because as it turned out, one of the doors on our trailer was open and flappin in the wind!! Sheesh!
We finally made it to Riverside, CA. Eric signed the books at the Union office and we found an rv park and got all settled. We were wasted for the next day and we all just slept and relaxed. It was nice! We were in San Bernardino which I don't really recommend :) I have not loved the area. Our RV Park is very nice, clean, quiet and safe but the surrounding area is not so great. Luckily Eric got called out today and tomorrow we are heading more central Cali for him to start working. I am excited to see this area. Our RV Park here is very nice and has a pool and playground so I am excited to use those! I will update with pics once we get to our new "home"! Keep checking back for more on our adventures in California! :)
