No Doubt and a ton of pics!

On Memorial Day, I went with my sister and her friend to the No Doubt concert. It was SO fun!!!! I took a ton of pics as you can see. Believe it or not I really didn't put all of them on here. ha ha. Close, but not all. I couldn't decide!!

Paramore opened for them and they were pretty good. I only know like 4 of their songs though.

This was how it started. You can tell by the size of the people in the crowd how massive this was! It looked really cool.

This when they first came out. The stage really looked pretty sweet. Kind of retro.

Here is Gwen. Eric loves her. ha ha. I quite like her too. I wish I could I get away with wearing a hair do like that. I loved her hair!

They had the coolest videos playing during each song. I am sure they had a blast making them! I LOVED all the colors they used!

Towards the end she asked if we could sing Happy Birthday to Kingston. The crowd of course went nuts. Then she went and brought him on stage. He was so cute!! She took the headphones off of him and he immediately covered his ears so she put them back on. ha ha. We were hoping to see Gavin but no such luck!

This is when they came back on for the encore. Her drummer came in basically nothing but a tutu. ha ha!

It was so much fun. I have not been to too many concerts, but this was for sure my favorite!! If they come to SLC again, I told Eric we are going. I recommend anyone to go to this concert if you have the chance. And if you like No Doubt of course! :) The next day was rough since we got home after 1 am and I had to be to work by 8 but it was worth it.

Guess what?!

Yup!! We are having a baby!!!!!
We are so excited!! Just had our first ultrasound yesterday and it was the coolest thing ever!! I couldn't believe we could see its little arms and legs moving around! Everything looked great. Great heartbeat. It was such a relief!! I am a worrier so it was great to see the little bambino really is in there! I have felt great so hopefully that continues! Our due date is December 19th so I am ten weeks today! It's about time right?! : )

Feels so good to not have it a secret anymore!!

Bored

So as you can tell from my exciting updates, not much is going on here! No new pictures to post either. Sigh. But on a happier note, it looks like Eric will be coming home most weekends!! I can handle that. There is just not much for him to do when he finishes school (which is either Thursday late afternoon or Friday early afternoon). So unless he has a full day of school on Friday (he will every once in a while) he will be coming home. Yahoo!

Did you notice that the countdown is already under 3 months? Okay, so barely but still!

He is absolutely loving the school. He scored a 98% and 100% on his first 2 tests. Nice going babe! He has almost completed all of his testing to get his CDL as well. He loves climbing and when he was home the first time, showed me all his equipment. Here I was thinking that he was fully harnessed in like you were rock climbing. Not the case! He has one strap that goes around the pole and then his "climbers" which strap onto his boots and have a spike on each one. He just sticks the spike into the pole and up he goes! I just have to remember that they have been doing this for years and so it has to be mostly safe! ha ha

Here is a video of what it looks like if you are interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4pJ8H8ld2Y

He says he is the only one he knows of that does not drink, smoke, or chew or do all 3! ha ha. Made me wonder what kind of work he is getting into! :) He is also the only one from Utah though so that kind of explains part of it. He even "got" to be the DD (designated driver) on Thursday for a bunch of guys. He said it was alright but he definitely does not want to do it every weekend. (Another reason to come home!)

He did some lawn mower maintenance for my parents this weekend and even mowed the lawn and when my mom tried to pay him, he refused the money and said, "Just keep letting Brooke hang out with you and eat dinner with you." Thanks for looking out for me babe!

That is about all that is new with us. He is coming home Thursday night and gets to stay until Monday afternoon! That will be so nice!! I can't wait!

On another note, just a reminder that I will be putting in an Avon order on Thursday so if you think you want anything, just let me know by Wednesday night. Thanks!!

A WONDERFUL surprise!!

On Friday I got a fabulous surprise!! Any guesses on what it was???? I will give you a hint.

Does this help? :) Yup! My hubby surprised me and came home 15 days sooner than I expected for his first visit! I can't blame him. Of course he missed me! :) When he first got up there, he said he wanted to come home that weekend but that he didn't think he could be able to because he had to go to school on Friday (They won't normally have school on Fridays). So I was kind of bummed but still holding on to hope! ha ha Well he always calls me on his lunch and he didn't on Friday. He called me at about 12:45 and said he was done for the day. I asked him if there was any chance that he would head for home since it was still early. He asked me what I thought he should do, duh! I told him of course I wanted him to come home but it was up to him if he wanted to drive that much.

He said he couldn't decide if it would be worth the drive and I started to get sad. ha ha. Then he was like, "Brooke, I am kidding. I left 20 minutes ago." I was so happy I started to cry! The rest of the day went by so slowly!! He got home about 5. It was a wonderful weekend! Even though it had only been a week, it was so good to see him!! The weekend went by way to fast though! So now I am counting down 10 days to Memorial weekend. We will have all night Thursday, and all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday and most of the day Monday. It will be wonderful! The above pic is the only one I got of the whole weekend and it is kind crappy because it was taken with my cell phone. I needed him to be my wallpaper. ha!

I learned a lot about his schooling, some made me nervous! But I will save all that for another post since this one is already massive!

And now for your viewing pleasure..........

You saw what Kai does when she first gets done with a bath, well she does a pretty good job of drying herself off but I still have to finish with the blow dryer. I am pretty sure she likes the warm air blowing on her because in the winter she goes and puts her head over the heat vents, but she she acts funny!

I just love her. I have one last video that has nothing to do with bath time but is just as funny. That will also have to wait for another post. I know the anticipation will kill you. ha ha! Thanks for humoring me!

Show us where you live!

Kelly's Korner Blog has started a new fun thing for Fridays. Each week she will feature a new room in your home and on Friday, you post pictures of that room and link back to her blog. This is so fun because you get to see inside homes all over the country (and some out of the country!). I don't know about you but I love to see what other's have done and get new ideas. This is also a really good idea for anyone building or thinking of building.

I know you are all probably sick of seeing pictures of my home by now, but sorry! This was such a fun idea that I wanted to join in! So here you go........

We built our home almost a year ago. My husband did a ton of the work and is responsible for all the finish work you see. (moldings, trim, banister, mantel....) I think he did a pretty great job! :)

View from the kitchen into the living room. The blankets on the back of some of the cushions are there because Kai likes to lay on them and I would rather her not lay directly on the cushions. :)

One of my littlee "nooks". Don't know what I will put here when I can no longer get away with "Spring"! The glass on that frame looks SO dirty. I swear it is really not that bad. ha ha

Our banister and the blank canvas behind it. Any ideas???

Above our TV. I didn't really have many spring/summer decorations so this is what I ended up with. I have way more stuff for fall and winter!

Close up of the mantel that Eric built. (Sorry my pics are not the greatest. I was taking them at 10 last night and the lighting was not so good)

Fireplace. This is probably my favorite thing in our house!

View from the hallway. That back wall really is a plum color but it looks almost black in the pic. I LOVE it!

So there you have it! Will you join in and show us where you live? It doesn't matter if it is new or old, clean or not! Just click on the link at the begining of this post and read how to join!

Crazy little dog

So since I don't really have any pics to post, I thought I would post some funny videos of Kai. She sure keeps us entertained. I used my digital camera a while ago to film what she does after she gets a bath. I have 4 different little ones but it took forever to load one so I will just do one for now and maybe add the others later. I know you are excited! There is no sound since we don't have an actual video camera, but you get the idea........

This is her attempt to dry herself off. She does this every time she gets a bath. You towel dry her and then let her go and she goes nuts! Those of you with little dogs, do yours do anything similar?? They have such funny personalities! This one is not the funniest but it was the first one I loaded so it is staying.

I am so glad to have her, especially now! She keeps me company and gives me someone to talk to. Too bad she doesn't talk back. I will have to work on that one.

On another note, Eric is doing GREAT!! He loves the school and has already started to learn to climb the poles. yikes! He is loving it. This makes me feel lots better and makes it easier for me to not get sad when I know he is enjoying the school and staying busy. They told him it is best if they do not have a job for at least the first month so we are going to give it a try! We had enough money set aside to send with him that he should be fine for a month or more. So now I am really his sugar mama. ha ha. I don't mind. :) I would like it if we could make it with him not really working at all while he is up there so he can focus and do the best he can. We will see how things work out.

And more good news, I have not cried since Monday! ha ha. And that really doesn't count because I just got teary eyed once when I was talking to him. I am so proud of myself. ha ha Thanks for all the texts, phone calls, comments and emails to check on me. I am now pretty positive that I can survive this. Ha! 15 days till I see him! Can't wait!

Let the countdown begin!

So I have survived the first (almost) 24 hours without Eric. So far so good I guess. Yesterday was horrible when he left but I pulled it together :) I went shopping with my mom and sis and that always makes a girl feel better, right?! It was a fun day. And it didn't even take me TOO long to fall asleep.

I went grocery shopping and had NO idea what to get. It sure is different shopping for one. Apparently convenience foods are lots more money because my cart hardly had anything in it and I spent $75! I should have enought to last me about 2 weeks though. So if anyone has more experience than me in the shopping for one department, give me some pointers on what the heck I should eat/buy.

Eric made it safe and sound and is all settled in. Considering the circumstances, it seems like his situation is as good as possible. It seems like he has a lot in common with his roomies and may even have a part time job immediately. The kid (guy? he is my age so I guess I can't call him a kid!) is part owner in a landscaping business and says they work long hours in the summer and could probably use Eric's help when he is not in school. So hopefully that will work out since they told him not to plan on getting a job in Boise since it takes almost 2 hours to get anywhere between 5-7 pm. His place is just outside of Boise in a more rural area. He was a little bummed that they do not have cable or A/C but he will manage just fine. I know once he gets started in the school, time will go by quicker for him so that will be good.

I think it kind of hit me how far away August 15th really is. ha ha. But Memorial weekend seems even farther! That is when Eric plans to come home for the first visit. He has already said he would love to come home every weekend but that would cost quite a bit in gas and since his truck is not SUPER reliable and has no A/C, it might not be too fun anyways. I told him he can surprise me with an unexpected visit anytime! I miss him terribly already and am sitting here wondering what the heck I should to today to keep busy! A nap sounds like a good idea since our new ward is at 9 o'clock! Lucky for me we only had sacrament today since they don't have all the callings figured out yet.

So I have put a countdown at the top of my blog. I might have to take it off if it seems to make time go by slower when I look at it everyday! I guess we will see. One thing I do know, is that it is a good thing we have free mobile to mobile minutes because otherwise, we would rack up a pretty good bill! Thank goodness for cell phones. We have already talked MANY times so this will be a live saver! Well, I think it is time for a snack and then a nap. Hopefully I will sleep until dinner. :)

A great day!

So yesterday was my 25th birthday! Holy cow I am getting old! ha ha It really was a great day. Nothing too extravagant but it was one of my best birthdays! I woke up feeling pretty crummy, sore throat, achy body, a little stuffy (I probably had the swine flu, I mean influenza A or whatever they changed the name to!) But after I got up and showered I felt much better, so I think I am safe! :) ***I am not sure why this is typing in underline but I could not figure out how to make it go away......***

I got flowers at work. Aren't they pretty?!

Then I got to get off work a little early which is always nice! I got many birthday texts (Thanks everyone!) When I got home the swine flu returned so I took an nap and felt much better! Eric came home and instead of getting me a card, wrote me a fabulous "love letter" which of course made me cry. I am a baby. ha ha I LOVED it though! His present to me should be here next week and I am SO excited. I will do a post for that so don't you worry. Then we went to my moms to eat pizza and finish our Monopoly Marathon that we started the night before.

And guess who won?!

It must have been birthday luck because I usually suck at Monopoly. Not last night though. I totally dominated everyone. As you can see in the pic above. I was mad I didn't count my money but I know there was a lot. :) Those railroads really paid off for me. ha ha

We finished the night off with frapes. It was great! I got some sandals and shopping money, too. Thanks for a fabulous birthday everyone!!

Oh and don't you worry, I feel good as new today!
(Just so no one thinks I am crazy, I really did not think I ever had the Swine Flu. :)
