Diapers

I need some advice. We have slowly started buying diapers so we can have a good supply by the time December comes. I am needing your input on approximately how many of each size (mainly the smaller sizes) we should accumulate. I know I should not get too many newborn sizes. I know it depends on the size of the baby and how fast they gain weight but I just want a ball park idea. So if you could comment and tell me your thoughts on qtys I would sure appreciate it!! Mainly the smaller sizes (size newborn, 1 or 1-2, and 2). Also, feel free to tell me brands you loved, hated, etc. Or maybe you used cloth diapers? This seems to be the new thing but I am not sure if I (and especially Eric!!!) can handle it. Ha!! Thanks for your help!!

Hey Brooke, its Joani. I saw your blog on Heathers. Anyway, Emilee was in newborns forever. Probably a couple of months. She was tiny though so im not sure how long a normal size baby would be in them. I do know brands though. I HATE HATE HATE luvs. They are stiff and don't move with the baby. For newborns I like Huggies Supreme because they are super soft and easy to fold down for the cord. After that, I used regular old Huggies. However, I discovered Macey's brand diapers and have loved them the best. They are great for when kids are crawling and running around. Good luck!

I am trying to think, Skye was in newborns for at least the first two months of her life and she was almost 7 lbs at birth. Then I can't remember how long we were in the other sizes, but I know by the time she was eight months old she was in size 3 diapers and then we switched to Cloth Diapers. I could give you a lot of info on Cloth Diapers, if you want it, we used them until Skye potty trained (at around 17 months) and I think everyone was surprised by how different and easy they are now. My favorite disposable diapers were Pampers Swaddlers for the small sizes, but really I would use anything with stretch tabs and once Luvs redesigned their diapers to include the stretch sides/tabs they are just as good as Huggies and Pampers, if not better IMO.

I am not sure what you want for quantities. Kyndra was in newborns for a couple months and my nephew that is a couple months younger than Kyndra only fit in them for a couple weeks.

My all time fav brand is Huggies. I dont buy anything else.

Hope that helps! good luck!

You are funny!!!! I added you to my cousin list!!!!! I just wasn't even thinking hahahahahhah!!! I am way excited that you are going to start coming back to water aerobics!!! I will be going this Thursday and if you want I can try to remember to bring that purse if you want it...so then that way you can look at it in real life ;)!!!!!!

p.s. I LOVE Huggies they seem to hold the most pee....We tried pampers Robert HATED them and I also didn't like them as much they seemed to leek out more. But it might be different with every kid? good luck!

Rian was in newborn for only a little bit and is in Size 2 now but we'll move her up to Size 3 once we run out of the size 2. i just stocked up but was able to return or exchange any that she grew out of. I LOVE huggies but we also bought alot of the Costco brand (i'm sure Sam's Club has some too). hit the sales and use your coupons and you can get some great deals! every baby is different though so be prepared. my friend's baby could only have these really sensitive ones and they cost a bundle. brian and i did the same thing though. we stocked up on wipes too because you'll always need wipes! they're pretty handy.

Millions, seriously buy millions of diapers. Huggies are my favorite brand. I can honestly say I have never "wasted" (I don't know if that's the right word) a diaper. Meaning she has never grown out of them before they were all used. Buy all sizes because it will be nice to have them down the road. We got tons of newborn diapers and smaller diapers for showers and stuff and it helped a ton! It kind of sucked when I had to start buying diapers. I can say she went through several cases of each size of diaper so you don't really have to worry about buying too many. I would just buy a couple of cases of each size. Start with smaller ones and if you are worried about getting too many buy bigger ones too. They will get used sometime and you will be so GLAD you have them! Especially if you are into storage like me. It's always nice to know that you have diapers on hand incase something happened and you couldn't get diapers or something. It's easier to put a big diaper on a small baby than a small diaper on a big baby. So, I would say 2-3 cases in each size. Huggies are my favorite and I always buy them by the case at Sam's Club. Hope this helps!

Truth be told, different diapers work for different babies and you might not want to stock up too much until you know what works for your baby. I stocked up on one kind with Hunter and he was allergic to them, but they were great for Brigham.

I am the minority, but I am a pampers girl. We tried Huggies, but they just didn't seem to do as well of a job. I do prefer Huggies wipes though over Pampers. We stocked up before we had Laynee and it was super nice, but we ended up buying too many size ones. If you buy them from Wal Mart or somewhere though they will take them back or exchange them. yay for you guys!!

cloth diapers all the way! fuzzi bunz rock! they wash up perfectly, havent' had a stain yet! have NEVER had a blowout with them, and never had diaper rash with them.....pretty sweet! :) And you can reuse them for the next kiddos, so you are saving money in the long run! :)

oh yes, pampers are great and pampers sensitive wipes, truly are the best! i tried making my own, cloth ones, and many brands, they seem to be WAY more sensitive on their sweet little butts.
