As you all probably know, almost 1 year ago exactly, Eric went to the Northwest Lineman College. Too bad we could not see into the future. This line of work has declined dramatically. When we first started looking into the Electrical Lineman field, it was booming. Work was abundant and extremely well paying.
Upon Eric completing the school in August, it still seemed like a great move for our family. He was employed in November and we were so excited! The more he worked, the more he heard about how slow it was. How working only 40 hours a week was unheard of. He kept hearing of more and more apprentices that had been layed off. We started to get a little worried so Eric began exploring other options. I believe it was around the end of March or the beginning of April that he decided to start working on getting his real estate license, just in case. He worked on it every night along with his Apprentice school work as well. To say he was busy would be a huge understatement.
Eric enjoys learning new things and because of this has so many skills! It honestly amazes me. One month ago, Eric was told that he was going to be sitting at home for a couple weeks until his company had more work. He was not being laid off. Well, one month later, he is still not working. It has been nice in some ways. He has been able to be home with Deegan a lot! But being out of work and money is never a fun thing! It has been a little hard for me to want to go to work knowing my boys are at home partying it up with out me! :)
This weekend, Eric took his last test and we are happy to say that he now has his real estate license! He has worked really hard and I am so proud of him. We just have no idea what the future holds for the lineman industry in Utah. He has been told they do not expect it to get any better for at least a year. We can't really sit around for a year! :) He has applied for some other jobs and has been helping a friend with his business in the meantime.
We are very excited about this. We know it is totally different than what he has been doing but he will be great at it. He is a big people person and is very outgoing and friendly. He knows a lot about houses since he knows them from the ground up! We have some good friends that are realtors as well and have really been very helpful in getting him started.
Eric puts 200% into anything he does and is not happy with anything but his best work. He is a very hard worker and a very positive person. Our main goal for the future is for me to be able to be home with Deegan more and that is what we are both working for.
Long post short (only not really!) If anyone has any plans of selling or knows anyone that may be, we would sure appreciate giving Eric a shot. I know he will do a great job! So keep him in mind and feel free to pass his info on to anyone. Oh yeah, and wish us luck in whatever the future holds for us! ha ha

That's exciting! It is good to have options - good luck to you guys with him getting a job, I know it's tough out there.
I completely understand trying to figure out what the right decision is and making tough adult decisions...good luck to you guys.
I know exactly how you feel. It's hard when your husband studies to do one thing and it doesn't work out right away. But its always nice that they're willing to work hard for the families in anything they do. And I bet it's great for him to spend more time with Deegan. I wish you and Eric luck in all that you do. I'll be thinking of you.
Good for you guys! He can't go wrong with getting more education! It gives him something extra to fall back on. I hope everything works out for him soon!!! That Deegan gets more adorable every time I see his pictures!!!
Good luck on the job situation. I hope he starts working soon. I will let friends and family know if they are selling a home to give Eric a call. Let me know if there is anything I can help with!!!
