Let the countdown begin!

So I have survived the first (almost) 24 hours without Eric. So far so good I guess. Yesterday was horrible when he left but I pulled it together :) I went shopping with my mom and sis and that always makes a girl feel better, right?! It was a fun day. And it didn't even take me TOO long to fall asleep.

I went grocery shopping and had NO idea what to get. It sure is different shopping for one. Apparently convenience foods are lots more money because my cart hardly had anything in it and I spent $75! I should have enought to last me about 2 weeks though. So if anyone has more experience than me in the shopping for one department, give me some pointers on what the heck I should eat/buy.

Eric made it safe and sound and is all settled in. Considering the circumstances, it seems like his situation is as good as possible. It seems like he has a lot in common with his roomies and may even have a part time job immediately. The kid (guy? he is my age so I guess I can't call him a kid!) is part owner in a landscaping business and says they work long hours in the summer and could probably use Eric's help when he is not in school. So hopefully that will work out since they told him not to plan on getting a job in Boise since it takes almost 2 hours to get anywhere between 5-7 pm. His place is just outside of Boise in a more rural area. He was a little bummed that they do not have cable or A/C but he will manage just fine. I know once he gets started in the school, time will go by quicker for him so that will be good.

I think it kind of hit me how far away August 15th really is. ha ha. But Memorial weekend seems even farther! That is when Eric plans to come home for the first visit. He has already said he would love to come home every weekend but that would cost quite a bit in gas and since his truck is not SUPER reliable and has no A/C, it might not be too fun anyways. I told him he can surprise me with an unexpected visit anytime! I miss him terribly already and am sitting here wondering what the heck I should to today to keep busy! A nap sounds like a good idea since our new ward is at 9 o'clock! Lucky for me we only had sacrament today since they don't have all the callings figured out yet.

So I have put a countdown at the top of my blog. I might have to take it off if it seems to make time go by slower when I look at it everyday! I guess we will see. One thing I do know, is that it is a good thing we have free mobile to mobile minutes because otherwise, we would rack up a pretty good bill! Thank goodness for cell phones. We have already talked MANY times so this will be a live saver! Well, I think it is time for a snack and then a nap. Hopefully I will sleep until dinner. :)

Oh let's see I probably have a lot of suggestions, not something I like being an "expert" on, but I guess I kind of am.
For food, I just buy what I normally buy and then will make it and eat the leftovers the next day or for lunch so food lasts for twice as many meals, also we eat a lot of sandwiches, frozen pizzas, and burritos...all cheap and easy to make for one person.
As far as things to do, when I get really lonely I try to do something to make myself busy, like a craft, or else deep cleaning (the other day I cleaned the ceiling fans, windowsills, and baseboards..things I normally skip, or pull out the fridge and move the washer and dryer and mop behind them, reorganize the pantry, go through your closet and find things to donate.) I find when I have a task that keeps my hands busy and something to focus on, I am a lot less likely to break down and cry.
Also the first two weeks is ALWAYS the hardest, after that, it almost seems normal, and it isn't near as hard...at least in my experience. Hopefully that happens for you to, it is hard to get use to being alone and having your husband gone.

It sounbds to me like you have got a good attitude so far! Iknow it's not the same thing, but Brandon used to leave for a week at a time for work, and I would get so bored too. I made a lot of TV dinners and watched all of the seasons of "Friends." I have the "Full House" and "I love Lucy" and "House" if you want to borrow them! It made time go by a little faster even though watching TV isn't totally the best thing. :-) But hey, it's something!

Hey Brooke, hang in there. I know how much it sucks to have your husband gone but it'll all be worth it in the end. Call me anytime! I'm pretty much sitting around the house all day now since I'm done with school and work... I'll be in Logan at the end of this month, we'll have to get together for a girls night out.
