We got a little bit of a surprise this morning! I woke up and got ready for work and thought my belly had dropped. I felt good though. I went to work and at about 9:00am I felt a little trickle so I went into the bathroom. I called my doctors office and they scheduled me to come in and get looked at at 10:30. I was way nervous and anxious. At about 9:15 I laughed and that was it. I went in the bathroom and called again and they told me to go right up to the hospital. I called Eric and he left work to come get me. It became more and more obvious that my water had FOR SURE broken. I couldn't believe it! Lucky for me I work in a shop full of men! ha ha. My coworker was a great help to me and she has only been working there for about 3 weeks! I had not even finished training her. Oops!
They got me checked in and hooked up. They checked me about an hour later and I was a 2+. They started me on Pitocin and I progresses pretty okay. I went from a 5 to a 10 way fast. I am so thankful for my epidural! I was excited that I progressed decently and thought for sure that it would continue to go fast. Not so. Deegan changed his mind on coming early!
I pushed for almost 3 hours! Blah!! All that matters is he got he safely and is doing as well as is to be expected since he is 5 weeks early! So now onto the stuff you care about! It's 1 am so forgive me that the pics are not in the right order.

I know it looks sad but he is doing well! He was a good cryer! He is on CPAP (I can't remember if that is what it is called) but it is a pressurized oxygen that is helping him to get the fluid and gunk out of his lungs. That thing is pushing his skin up and his hat pushes it down so the poor kid looks all scrunched!
They gave him this binki so help him keep air in. They had to cut the top off it for him. It was so cute to see him sucking it!
Not the most attractive pic. He will love this when he is older! You can see his poor cone head. From the vacuum they had to use since he was taking forever and also because he was in for so long.
We had my doctor, my nurse, my mom, Eric, the pediatrician, the respiratory specialist and 2 NICU nurses. PARTAY!
My lovely foot. Thanks for this thoughful pic babe! I am sure I will laugh at it later!
So there you have it. That is the low down. They told us to plan on him being in the NICU for about a week. That makes me sad but I want to make sure he is all ready to come home! Then I can actually get things more ready since I was NOT prepared for this! I didn't even have a bag packed. Oh well! All in all we are doing great! I am feeling much better now that he is here and I have some drugs. We are so excited to be parents and to finally meet him! I will update tomorrow!
We love you Deegan!
(I am not proofreading this so hopefully it makes sense)

Aunt Nancy here...WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I have been on Brenda's blog and just happened to see that you had been on four days ago and went to check it out. Imagine my delight to see such fun news. That is almost exactly what Christopher weighed when he was born 4 weeks early. It was not fun to go home without him either. Deegan looks like a very little trooper. Rest up and get ready for the homecoming. Love you tons!!!
I'm so happy....excited.... relieved....proud that Deegan's here and you're both OK. I am sad that I won't be able to come see him and love him. You do know that the afghan isn't done don't you?! I'm still working on it though. Love you both and congratulations!
Congrats!!! It's good to see that everyone is doing good. Enjoy the blessings of a new life in your hands!

Crazy He is already here! I read on Chelsie's facebook lastnight that she is anxious for Deegan to come...And I thought that was weird for her to say that so early...but now I know!! Congrats! That is awesome! Can't wait to see him in person!
Congrats, I'm so happy for you guys! He looks adorable, even though his face is a little scrunched, he will be so happy when all of the equipement comes off! I'm surprised you had a computer to blog on! When do you get to leave the hospital? When can we come see you? Oh and tell Eric I love the picture of the foot! :) Thanks for all the updates all night too, we were very anxious! I'm so glad he is doing great! Love you all!!

CONGRATS!! I am so excited for you and Eric. Deegan is so cute. I was a little surprised when I got your text. Of all the places to have your water break. I am glad that you are doing great. If you need anything or anyone to talk to give me a call. Let me know when you are ready for visitors.
Congrats you guys! He's adorable! Glad all is well.
I'm so glad everything is ok. I have been thinking about you guys all night!!! If you need anything let us know. What a cute little guy!!
Congratulations! At first, I thought you were kidding since I knew you were so early! He's absolutely adorable and you're right, he does look chunky for being as small as he is (that's good - I love those chunky babes!). Hopefully he gets better soon and you guys can begin enjoying him! Good luck!
How exciting! I can't believe he came so soon! Did you get all that laundry done ;) Good luck with him and hopefully he'll be able to come home soon!

You are right, those pictures are so sad, but I'm so happy that they are not as bad as it looks. He's doing great and that is such a blessing for you guys!!! The first thing I thought when Brandon told me you all had your baby was, "But Eric hasn't finished Deegans dresser yet!" Haha, clearly I wasin a blog land frame of mind! ;-) What happy news! Congrats!!!! He is beautiful!!!
Is it stupid that I cried a little when I read this? Babies are such a miracle and I'm just so excited for you. Brooke, he is beautiful and you look great! Brinley was 5lb. 12oz too. Save one of his little preemie diapers. You won't ever believe he was that small. I'm so happy for you guys! Please let me know if you need anything and when you guys get home and settled I want to come see him. Congratulations! You guys will make great parents. He's one lucky little boy.
I thought you were kidding at first and going to see if we all fell for it! But no joke! Congratulations! We are glad all is well!
Yeah for you! Nathan came 2 weeks early and we didn't have diapers or a car seat! AHHH! They keep you on your toes from the start! I am glad you and Deegan are doing well! Thanks for the pictures and can't wait to see more!
Oh I am so happy for y'all. He is a cutie. Hopefully he will continue to do well and this week will fly by. I can just see you at work with your water breaking. And I seriously say all the time that I wish I would have taken pictures of my feet (they were SUPER swollen) so you will probably really enjoy that picture later.
Wow I haven't checked blogs in a few days and you already have a baby! Congratulation! I'm glad to hear that he is doing so well despite being born 5 weeks early.
